We are looking for a Quality Risk Assessor (mortgage compliance). Previous experience is not essential as full training will be provided, enabling the successful candidate to acquire all of the industry-specific knowledge needed to undertake the role. Our successful candidate will join us on a full-time, permanent basis, with hybrid working, 3 days from our Basildon office and 2 days working from home.

The role

The Q&R Assessor deals directly with the UK-wide network of professional mortgage and insurance advisers, in relation to residential and buy-to-let mortgage case files and their compliance with operating procedures, the Stonebridge Performance Management System and the FCA regulatory requirements. The role focuses on support for complex mortgage and insurance cases, providing phone and email support and feedback – often acting as a ‘go between’ from the AR Firms / Advisers and the company’s Audit team. The Q&R Assessor is also responsible for ensuring all team MI spreadsheets are up to date and running MI reports, as well as monitoring competence levels among the AR firms in the network.

Key responsibilities

  • Complete reviews of mortgage & insurance cases, assessing each case against a predefined, specific criteria
  • Provide feedback and guidance on the cases reviewed, to enable remedial items to be completed by the mortgage adviser
  • Liaise with advisors and Senior Audit where required to resolve case issues
  • Review the updated cases to make sure all remedial actions have been completed satisfactorily by the Adviser
  • Update logs/spreadsheets with details of cases managed and cases completed

Previous office/admin experience preferred but not essential. Able to remain focused and motivated reviewing lengthy, detailed documentation. Probing, investigative, analytical. Clear and articulate communicator. Good knowledge of MS Office packages. Ability to create MI and reporting. Mortgage file reviewing is an advantage, but not essential. Able to fully satisfy the pre-employment screening process, which comprises right to work, identity, 5 years referencing, AML, credit screen, financial sanctions and DBS checks.
