Scope:
Reporting directly to the Senior/Commercial Manager, the Senior Surveyor will lead and manage all quantity surveying duties on multiple projects. You will be responsible for the day-to-day commercial duties of the sites to ensure they are delivered on time and within budget and that accurate and timely reports are produced for senior management.
These are illustrative duties, and the post holder will be expected to become involved in a range of work to enable the department to respond effectively to the requirements of the Company.
- Raise and resolve queries and ensure project costs are captured.
- Manage all development costs, reporting any movements in the costs against the start on site budget/previous months costs.
- Monitor procurement against critical path programmes
- Maintain full responsibility for procurement and compile tender sign offs for approvals against set budgets
- Monitor the performance of suppliers and subcontractors to ensure consistently high standards of materials and performance are provided
- Monitor subcontractor costs and have responsibility for explanations of any changes in those costs
- Undertake regular site visits and value sub-contractor applications.
- Ensure all accounts are kept up to date
- Ensure that all documents are filed appropriately.
- Ensure that adequate resources are available for the onsite teams for the best available price.
- Work collaboratively with all departments to support the smooth running of the office and site, carrying out duties as required.
- Assist in the guidance and development of junior members of the team.
Skills & Experience
- Previous experience in a similar role.
- Strong working knowledge of all buying and quantity surveying activities
- A good knowledge of Building Regulations, NHBC and Health and Safety requirements is preferred
- Wide experience in the procurement and purchase of materials and subcontract labour.
- IT literate
