About the role… We are excited to be recruiting for a Motor Vehicle Quality Checker. This is an unrivalled opportunity to join one of the UK's fastest growing motor groups. As a Motor Vehicle Quality Checker, you will be responsible for ensuring all vehicle repairs and servicing are completed to the highest standard before handover to the customer. This role is critical in improving overall workshop quality, reducing repeat repairs (“return to workshop”), and supporting continuous improvement through technician coaching and quality monitoring.

An average day as a Motor Vehicle Quality Checker…

  • Conducting final quality checks on all completed vehicles prior to customer handover
  • Verify all work has been completed in line with manufacturer standards, dealership process, and job card instructions
  • Ensure vehicles are clean, safe and fully operational before release
  • Confirm that all faults raised have been correctly diagnosed and rectified
  • Identify and address defects or incomplete work before the vehicle leaves site
  • Take ownership of “return to workshop” cases
  • Investigate repeat repairs and work with the workshop team to resolve root causes
  • Provide constructive feedback to technicians on workmanship and quality standards
  • Support the development of technicians through on-the-job coaching and guidance
  • Work closely with the Workshop Controller to address performance or quality concerns
  • Maintain accurate records of quality inspections carried out
  • Log defects, trends, and repeat issues to identify patterns within the workshop
  • Produce regular feedback to the Service Manager on quality performance
  • Ensure all repairs meet manufacturer, warranty and safety standards
  • Support compliance with MOT and roadworthiness requirements
  • Promote a culture of “right first time” across the workshop

About you… Proven experience as a vehicle technician within a main dealer or independent workshop. Strong diagnostic and fault-finding ability. High attention to detail and commitment to quality. Ability to challenge and influence technicians in a constructive manner. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Good organisational and record-keeping ability. You will thrive working in a challenging yet rewarding environment with the ability to work well under pressure. You will be consumer and market focused. You will be business and commercially driven with demonstrable expertise in the automotive sector. Hold a current and valid MOT tester licence. Hold a full UK driving licence.
