We are looking for a Solicitor to join our Education Team, working closely with state‑funded schools and further education clients on a wide range of day‑to‑day matters including safeguarding, admissions, complaints, and regulatory work with Ofsted and the Department for Education.

Responsibilities

  • Effectively manage an individual caseload, with supervision where appropriate.
  • Attend to clients in the office or elsewhere as needed.
  • Work in a collegiate and collaborative way within your immediate team and the wider firm.
  • Contribute to knowledge‑sharing initiatives across the Education Team and wider firm.
  • Communicate promptly and effectively both internally to colleagues and externally to clients.
  • Maintain continuing professional development requirements and actively pursue further knowledge in education law.
  • Support senior lawyers on complex or high‑profile matters including regulatory investigations, tribunal claims, and judicial review proceedings.
  • Carry out work to the highest standard, following the firm’s standards, procedures and core values.
  • Regularly attend and contribute to team meetings, marketing and business development events, and prepare for client training sessions, webinars and sector‑focused events.

Qualifications

  • Qualified Solicitor (we welcome candidates at different stages of their legal career).
  • Prior experience providing legal advice to schools or clients in the education sector.
  • Strong commitment to career development and further learning.
  • Experience handling your own caseload, working independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to prioritise workload.
  • High attention to detail.
  • IT literate with legal software and Microsoft systems.
  • Strong organisation skills and full ownership of tasks with delivery within agreed deadlines.
  • Adaptable approach to managing workload and supporting others.
  • Team‑first attitude and ability to work collaboratively.
