To provide strategic and operational leadership across all functions of the Oil States Heartlands business. The General Manager is responsible for driving performance, profitability, and growth by overseeing production, engineering, quality, HSE, and commercial activities. The role ensures alignment with company objectives, continuous improvement, customer satisfaction, and compliance with industry standards and regulations. The role will entail having a significant presence/profile within the facility and a hands-on approach to problem-solving.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Planning:
  • Developing and implementing manufacturing strategies and processes aligned with overall company goals to achieve company growth, profitability and performance targets.
  • Operational Management:
  • Overseeing all manufacturing operations including production; quality control; inventory management; and maintenance.
  • Production Optimisation:
  • Ensuring products are manufactured safely, on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. Overseeing the efficient planning, scheduling, and execution of manufacturing operations to meet customer demand.
  • Team Leadership:
  • Managing and developing a coherent, high-performing team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration. Championing talent development and succession planning within the organisation.
  • Quality Assurance: Implementing and enforcing quality control measures to meet stringent standards and regulatory requirements. Ensuring the delivery of high-quality, cost-effective products that meet or exceed customer expectations.
  • Cost Management: Monitoring production costs, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing cost-saving measures. Maintaining full P&L responsibility and ensure financial targets are met or exceeded.
  • Safety Compliance: Ensuring a safe working environment and compliance with health, safety, environmental and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaboration: Collaborating with other departments (e.g., Engineering, Supply Chain, Projects) to drive process improvements and foster a culture of continuous improvement across all areas of the business. Developing and maintaining strong relationships with key customers, suppliers and other stakeholders.
  • Performance Measurement: Developing and monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs) to track and improve manufacturing performance. Reporting regularly to the Group VP on business performance, risks, and strategic initiatives.
  • Budget Management: Managing the manufacturing department\'s budget, monitoring expenses, and ensuring cost-effectiveness.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related technical discipline (MBA or postgraduate business qualification desirable).
  • Chartered Engineer status (CEng) or equivalent is advantageous.
  • Substantial and relevant industry experience may be considered in lieu of formal qualifications.

Skills and Experience:

  • Proven experience in a senior leadership role within an engineering or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of production processes, engineering principles, and quality systems.
  • Demonstrated success in driving operational efficiency and delivering financial results.
  • Experience with continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Commercially astute with experience in customer relationship management and business development.
  • Solid understanding of HSE regulations and industry standards (e.g. ISO, ASME, API, etc.).
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and team-building skills.
