Overview

We are recruiting for a Civils Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our Commercial team in Beverley.

The role will manage all commercial aspects of construction contracts from pre‑construction, through the construction phase, to final account and certificate.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all commercial management duties on construction contracts from pre‑construction, through the construction phase, to final account and certificate.
  • Oversee the team in carrying out thorough financial negotiations to secure client contracts.
  • Build close working relationships with clients to identify requirements and ensure pricing schedules deliver projects that meet expectations.
  • Work with the project delivery team and prepare realistic budgets to maximise revenue, profit and reputation.
  • Advise on commercial matters and their implications in the planning process to ensure maximum efficiency.
  • Prepare labour pricing schedules for the delivery of works under the Pay Go pricing system and for subcontractors.
  • Prepare, submit and agree monthly interim valuations and final accounts to support timely client invoicing and payment applications.
  • Manage change and prepare, submit and agree early warning notices and compensation events under NEC and other contracts.
  • Compile monthly reconciliations and work‑in‑progress assessments for management accounts.
  • Manage risk and advise on mitigation measures.
  • Review aged debt regularly and manage outstanding retentions to ensure timely cash flow.
  • Respond to enquiries and tenders for works not covered by the Framework schedule of rates.

Qualifications

  • Relevant HNC/D, degree in Quantity Surveying or significant experience.
  • Experience working with NEC contracts.
  • Previous experience in estimating.
  • Strong IT skills, especially Microsoft Excel.
  • Full driving licence.
