PZ Cussons is hiring a Packaging Development Technologist to join its R&D team in Manchester. The role is based at the company’s R&D centre and factory site at Agecroft in north Manchester. This job is suitable for candidates who have an interest in packaging development, product packaging innovation, sustainability, and manufacturing support. The company is looking for someone who can help create packaging solutions for different household brands while supporting new product development activities.
During the training period, the successful candidate will work across different brands. Later, the person may focus on one or more specific brands after gaining enough experience. The role also involves working on packaging innovation, understanding packaging regulations, improving sustainability practices, and helping the business reduce environmental impact through better packaging solutions.
The successful applicant will work closely with marketing teams, product development teams, suppliers, quality teams, and regulatory departments to support packaging projects from concept stage to final production. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop packaging solutions for company products
- Support packaging activities for new product development projects
- Ensure packaging meets quality, cost, consumer, and sustainability goals
- Assist with artwork creation, reviews, and approvals
- Carry out artwork checks and ensure technical accuracy
- Manage artwork updates and approval processes
- Support 3D packaging and material changes when needed
- Work with marketing and brand teams on packaging ideas
- Help choose suitable manufacturing methods for packaging production
- Collaborate with suppliers and external partners
- Support packaging innovation and improvement projects
- Work closely with product development and supply chain teams
- Assist with packaging testing and risk assessments
- Maintain packaging specifications and technical records
- Prepare and manage test reports and artwork files
- Support packaging projects from planning to commercial launch
- Help solve packaging issues during production or after product launch
- Ensure packaging complies with regulations and standards
- Support sustainability initiatives within packaging operations
