We are looking for an experienced Medical Secretary who has worked in General Practice. We would prefer someone that could work at least 30 hours per week but could be flexible for the right person.
Main duties of the job include:
- Typing referrals, private letters, reports and other documents.
- Liaising with external agencies such as hospitals and community services.
- Processing private applications for claims, benefits, insurances and SARS.
- Keeping spreadsheet up to date for all private work undertaken.
- Regularly checking and maintaining email inbox.
- Maintaining accurate referral and medical report spreadsheets.
- Use of multiple systems EMIS, DOCMAN, ERS, IGPR, ACCURX.
- Dealing with patient telephone enquiries in an efficient, polite and professional manner.
About us: We are a semi-rural practice based in High Wycombe with a list size of approx 7000 patients. We have 3 partners, 2 nurses, 2 HCAs and PCN staff that consist of a Paramedic, Physio, 2 Clinical Pharmacists and a GPA, as well as our admin team.
Job responsibilities include:
- Supporting clinical and admin staff with tasks.
- Filing reports, clinic letters and patient correspondence electronically via DOCMAN.
- Copying notes.
- Accurately inputting data into patients' healthcare records as necessary.
- Checking secretary in post tray and actioning documents in tray.
- Maintaining a clean, tidy, effective working area at all times.

- Methodical and accurate.
- Flexibility to support team members when necessary, in order to provide holiday and sickness cover whenever possible.

- Dealing efficiently with tasks from doctors and clinical staff regarding patients.
- Ad-hoc tasks to support the doctors and the wider team.
Training: It is important to attend in-house training events.
Confidentiality: Practice ethics and the confidentiality of patient records/treatment etc. to be adhered to at all times.
Salary: Depending on experience. We would prefer candidates to have some experience of secretarial work within a GP Practice.
