Main Purpose Of The Role
Working to Stokenchurch Dog Rescue’s code of practice and Health & Safety guidelines, assist the Dog Carers in improving the welfare of centre dogs by ensuring they are healthy and well cared for.
Main Activities / Tasks
- Feeding the dogs & washing up
- Cleaning of the kennels including removing bedding, toys and water bowls where necessary
- Preparing kennels with fresh bedding, toys & water bowls
- Assist with exercising the dogs both on and off-site
The above is not exhaustive and volunteers may be asked to take on other tasks to support and assist the smooth running of the organisation.
Skills / Qualifications / Experience
- A strong interest in animal welfare, and an empathy and understanding of dogs within a rescue environment
- Ability to be self-motivated and have a positive attitude
- A flexible approach to work and the ability to take instructions
- Ability to work as part of a team as well as work alone
- Adhering to the policies and aims of Stokenchurch Dog Rescue
- Experience of handling dogs, and a confident and sensible approach to dogs

You should be reliable, with an organised and flexible approach. You should be confident and approachable and be able to work in a busy environment, where multi-tasking is essential. You must be happy to work within Stokenchurch Dog Rescue’s policies and procedures and empathise with the aims of the organisation. As representatives of Stokenchurch Dog Rescue the image you present is important so you must be polite and friendly to the public.
