Main duties of the job:
- Lead on the use of OT methods, functional assessments and evidence-based interventions that promote independence.

- Use your extensive knowledge of community equipment, prescribing equipment that supports people to live fulfilling lives at home.
- Use your understanding of legislation around provision of equipment and adaptations to ensure the overall most appropriate, cost-effective solutions.

Job responsibilities:
The Senior Occupational Therapist within the Social Care Occupational Therapy Service will have professional responsibility for the support and supervision of qualified and unqualified team members, commensurate with their grade. They will also have responsibility for assessment of people with a disability and provision of the appropriate recommendations in order to assist in the Department's statutory obligations under current legislation. This may include advice, provision of equipment, adaptations to the home and/or referral to other agencies. The Senior Occupational Therapist will be responsible for the management of their own caseload, and supporting team members in the management of their caseloads.
Person Specification:
- Qualifications: State Registration in Occupational Therapy.
- Experience: Experience of Social Services or relevant Health Authority. Post qualification experience as an Occupational Therapist within a Social Services Department. Also to have shown full competence over the full range of occupational therapist duties and responsibilities.
