The Waste Operational Team Leader role is part of the Waste Disposal Team in the Housing, Regeneration & Operations Directorate. The team leads our front‑line operations and supports the continual improvement of our waste disposal services.
Responsibilities:
- Lead, supervise and motivate operational staff.
- Deliver a safe and efficient service.
- Ensure waste disposal facilities operate in full compliance with environmental permits.
- Act as a technical lead on site.
- Oversee waste acceptance, segregation, storage and removal in line with council procedures.
Qualifications:
- Operational experience in waste management and managing a waste disposal facility.
- Hold a Certificate of Technical Competence (COTC) Medium Risk Operator (HWRC).
- Experience in Health and Safety requirements, compliance and permits.
- Good communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and make sound operational decisions.
- Experience as a plant or machine operator.
