The pupils who attend Cicely Haughton come from all across Staffordshire and have Education Health Care Plans for Special Educational Needs for Social, Emotional and Mental Health Difficulties with resulting behavioural problems. Our aim at Cicely Haughton School is to make our Residential pupils feel safe, valued and listened to. We are seeking someone who has patience, a sense of humour, a lot of energy and enjoys working with young people.
The job will be varied and will include:
- Supporting young people to have fun, trust adults, make friends and develop their self-confidence.
- Maintaining a safe, secure and pleasant environment for the young people to live in.
- Working with other staff and on your own to prepare activities.
- The role includes working 3 x evenings per week in the Residential Educational provision and this will include a minimum of one sleep-in per week.
- Leading by example and being a good role model.
- Keeping up to date observations and records and feeding back to parents and guardians.

Cicely Haughton School is seeking to appoint a Residential Support Worker to work within our Residential provision, rostered for weekdays 37 hours per week, with occasional split shifts and sleep-in requirements, for which an additional allowance is paid.
This is an exciting opportunity to join an \”Outstanding Residential School\” where emphasis is put on teamwork, mutual respect and hard work.
We require a motivated and confident team member who possesses the ability to build positive relationships with young people who have a range of social, emotional and mental health difficulties (SEMH). The role enables autonomy to co-manage a group of young people to enhance their independence, resilience, and self-confidence through nurture, leisure and community-based activities. Emphasis is also placed on improving areas related to daily life skills such as personal care and independence.
The successful candidate will be provided with an extensive induction and training programme, with support to complete relevant and adequate qualifications, and the opportunity to expand your own professional development and knowledge base.
