Grade & Salary

Grade: Level 8 plus market supplement
Salary: £33,699 – £36,363 plus a market supplement of £3,500

Hours

Hours: 37
Normal workshop operating hours: 6:30 am – 5:30 pm (early start and a later start)

Responsibilities

• Support fleet operations ensuring legal compliance with legislative requirements.
• Work within tight timescales in a sometimes‑pressured responsive service.
• Maintain high standards of vehicle and plant service to support Council services to city residents.

Qualifications & Experience

• Qualified Heavy Goods Vehicle mechanic or significant time‑served experience with major goods vehicle repair elements (engines, transmission, braking systems, suspension) and basic vehicle electrics.
• Experience with HGVs, LGVs and agricultural machines.
• Good vehicle MOT preparation experience desirable.
• Class 4, 5 or 7 MOT tester qualification considered for MOT testing operations.
