Overview

26.25hrs per week Teaching Assistant Duty NJC Grade C; 5hrs per week Mealtime Assistant Duty NJC Grade A. To commence September 2026.

Role purpose

This post is to primarily work in KS2 providing general support for the learning of the classes under the direction of the teacher. There will be a requirement to perform a mealtime assistant duty each day, so flexibility and adaptability is a preference. This is a temporary post initially for up to 12 months, with the possibility of future roles across the Trust for experienced and skilled individuals.

Person specification

We are looking for someone with a strong, sensitive and caring approach to children’s needs, who is an effective communicator and able to think creatively. You will need to show initiative and be solution focussed. It would be beneficial to have experience of working with children with complex needs.

Requirements and responsibilities

  • Have excellent literacy and numeracy skills;
  • Be able to build positive relationships with children, staff and parents;
  • Have high expectations of children’s behaviour and be able to maintain consistent boundaries;
  • Be willing to work as part of a team;
  • Be able to use your own initiative when required;
  • Have experience in a similar role in a school;
  • You should have a good knowledge of phonics plus literacy and numeracy to GCSE A-C or equivalent.
