An exciting opportunity has arisen at Stoke City Football Club of the English Football League for an Accounts Assistant on an 8 month fixed term basis to support its Finance operations at the bet365 Stadium. Reporting to the Financial Controller you will support the finance team in completing various accounting tasks in line with the month end timetable. You will also assist in preparing the information of the month end management accounts. The successful candidate will manage and reconcile all business bank accounts, demonstrating self-motivation and a result driven mindset.
Main Responsibilities
- Processing invoices and managing daily transactions.
- Managing the purchase ledger and reconciling supplier accounts.
- Posting and reconciling bank and cash accounts.
- Assisting with internal and external audits.
- Providing financial data for reporting and budgeting.
- Ensuring timely supplier payments and managing queries.
- Processing employee expenses and ensuring correct VAT treatment.
- Supporting the month end processes for accruals and prepayments.
- Supporting sales invoicing and credit control.
- Adhering to all Club policies, procedures and safeguarding guidelines.
Key Skills, Experiences and Qualifications
- Excellent interpersonal skills in a positive and friendly manner.
- Previous experience in an accounting background.
- Qualified to or working towards AAT level 4 or equivalent.
- Strong organisational skills and effective time management.
- Skilled in multitasking and effectively prioritising tasks.
- Ability to manage and organise own workload within tight deadlines.
- Understanding of Data Protection legislation and an ability to handle information in a confidential manner.
- A high level of ability in the use of Microsoft Office applications.
The position will be offered on a full time, fixed term basis for 8 months. All relevant training will be provided.
