An exciting opportunity has arisen at Stoke City Football Club of the English Football League for the position of Women’s First Team Head Coach. This role will support football operations primarily based at our Clayton Wood Training Ground in Trent Vale.

Reporting to the Women\'s and Girls\' Performance Director and Academy Technical Director, the Women’s First Team Head Coach will be a key member of the women’s technical board, providing advice on all matters both on and off the pitch. You will lead the processes for retaining and releasing Women players, delivering reports to the Women’s and Girls’ Performance Director along with any additional duties as required.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for coaching the Women’s first team and managing the multidisciplinary support team. You will be required to observe and support the newly established Girls’ Academy.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Coaching and managing the Stoke City Women’s first team, fostering a positive performance environment for all players and staff.
  • Leading the team in league matches, cup fixtures and additional matches throughout the season.
  • Developing and implementing the playing style for the Women’s first team.
  • Driving and motivating staff and players to achieve high and consistent performance levels.
  • Conducting weekly match preparation meetings, utilising data and video analysis for match readiness and individual player development.
  • Planning, delivering and reflecting on daily coaching activities while recording necessary information.
  • Ensuring players have the resources to enhance their skills and achieve goals outlined in their player development plans.
  • Providing players with opportunities to develop key areas and working towards their targets.
  • Improving performance by developing, implementing, and evaluating player performance and providing constructive feedback.

Key Skills, Experience and Qualifications:

  • FA safeguarding certificate and emergency first aid certificate.
  • Previous experience in an elite sports environment.
  • Strong planning and organisational abilities.
  • Excellent leadership and management skills.
  • Hardworking with motivational capabilities.
  • Experience working within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrates resilience, professionalism, and a positive, ambitious mindset.

The ideal candidate must be available to work evenings and weekends to cover matchday fixtures and other ad hoc events at the bet365 Stadium and Wellbeing Park, home of the Women’s first team.

The position will be offered on a full time permanent basis.
