STOIX is working with a well-funded, AI-enabled rollup rewriting the economics of a fragmented, legacy services sector. The founding team has already built and exited a business in this space. Since relaunching under twelve months ago, they've raised substantial capital across equity and debt, are scaling from £2M to £20M revenue this year, targeting £500M over five years, and launching in the US later this year. The aim is a multi-billion exit.
They're hiring a Finance Director. This is a "build the financial architecture of a future category leader" job.
The role:
- Own the financial integration playbook: every acquired business is a puzzle to be solved quickly and cleanly.
- Build the automation stack that makes this finance function 10x leaner than any competitor's AI-native tools.
- Own the numbers end to end: group management accounts, statutory reporting, board packs, on time, every time, telling a clear story.
- Build reporting infrastructure that scales from 5 acquisitions to 50.
- Work directly with the CEO and fractional CFO, with real line of sight to the full Group CFO seat.
- Genuine hybrid flex (no 996, family-friendly), with a couple of days a week in London or Birmingham.
The profile (non-negotiable):
- ACA / ACCA / CIMA qualified with a Big 4 (or top 6/7) foundation, strong technical accountant.
- 8–10 years of experience, with meaningful time in a buy-and-build, M&A-heavy or multi-entity group environment.
- Startup experience is essential, you've felt the chaos, the unstructuredness, the wheels shaking at the end of a funding cycle.
- Demonstrable finance automation experience, you've shipped something that actually saved money.
- You're the person who asks "why are we still doing this manually?" and then fixes it.
- Commercially wired, finance's job is to help the business make better decisions faster, not to police them.
- High EQ, high ambition, high work ethic, you move fast without being asked and don't wait for permission.
What this is (and isn't):
- This is the founding finance leadership hire at a business that is genuinely going somewhere; with equity that matters, a clear path to CFO, and a founder who has built and exited in this space before.
- It is not: a role where the systems are already built and your job is to maintain them; a steady-state head of finance seat in a large, well-oiled team; a first move out of practice; a 9-to-5.
If you've operated in the chaos of buy-and-build, shipped finance automation that actually worked, and you want to be part of a founding team that is genuinely changing an industry, this is the one.
