As a Payments Operations Analyst at StockX, you’ll play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and efficiency of our end-to-end payments processes across StockX. You’ll work at the intersection of finance, fraud, and customer experience to monitor and resolve issues related to payment processing, reconciliation, and chargebacks. You’re detail-oriented, analytical, and eager to dive deep into data and processes to uncover root causes, identify trends, and drive improvements. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute directly to the trust customers place in our platform by ensuring seamless, secure, and accurate payment experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and support daily payment operations across multiple providers and geographies, including payment processing, settlement, chargebacks and refunds
  • Investigate payment failures, delays, and discrepancies across systems; partner with engineering, finance, and customer support to resolve them quickly and accurately
  • Track and analyze key payment metrics, such as authorization rates, chargeback volumes, refund rates, and payment success by method or geography
  • Act as a key liaison between internal teams (Fraud, Customer Support, Treasury, Finance, Accounting, Engineering) and external payment vendors, ensuring alignment on issue resolution, payment performance, and process improvements
  • Respond to escalations and incidents involving payments; document root causes and propose scalable fixes
  • Partner cross-functionally with product, legal, compliance, engineering, and finance teams to implement operational improvements and ensure accurate financial flows
  • Drive continuous process improvement by analyzing existing payment workflows and systems to identify inefficiencies, reduce costs, and enhance operational performance. Propose and implement scalable solutions that streamline processes and improve execution across teams
  • Support payment cost optimization efforts by tracking processing fees, identifying costly payment methods or routing decisions, and partnering with product and finance teams to reduce transaction costs without impacting customer experience

Qualifications

About You

  • 2–4+ years of experience in payments operations, financial operations, treasury, or risk within an e-commerce, marketplace, or fintech company
  • Strong attention to detail and a process-oriented mindset; you’re comfortable digging into data and resolving operational edge cases
  • Solid understanding of payment methods (e.g., cards, digital wallets, bank transfers) and processing flows (auth, capture, refund, settlement)
  • Experience working with payment service providers like Adyen, Braintree, Stripe, or PayPal
  • Proficient in Excel/Sheets and familiar with SQL or BI tools (e.g., Looker, Tableau)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to collaborate cross-functionally and clearly document findings and solutions
  • Prior experience working on payment operations in U.S. and EU markets, with an understanding of region-specific regulations, schemes, and payment trends
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-growth environment with a bias for action

Nice to Have Skills

  • Familiarity with network tokens, account updater services, or token vaults used in card-on-file transactions
  • Working knowledge of payment orchestration platforms or routers (e.g., Primer, Spreedly, Payoneer)
  • Experience supporting Alternative Payment Methods (APMs) like Klarna, Afterpay, or Apple Pay and/or Local Payment Methods
  • Understanding of payment pricing models (e.g., interchange, scheme fees, processor markups) and experience analyzing or reducing payment processing costs
