Location: Acklam, Coulby Newham, Great Ayton, Ingleby Barwick, Guisborough, Linthorpe, Marske, Norton, Redcar, Saltburn, Skelton, Stokesley, Thornaby & Yarm

Time Requirement: Flexible to suit you – Our shops are generally open from 9am to 4.30pm Monday to Saturday. Time commitment and availability can be discussed and agreed with the Shop Manager. Where possible, we ask that all volunteers commit to a minimum of 3 hours per week.

DBS Check needed? No

Age Requirements: From 14 years old plus

Role Summary: As a Stock Sorter Volunteer, you will be taking donations from the public, organising, steaming and pricing items for sale.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparing donated items for sale
  • Using a clothes steamer to ensure clothes look their best
  • Attaching labels and tags to donated items for easy browsing by customers
  • Pricing of donations
  • Identifying unsaleable donations for recycling
  • Keeping the stock room organised and tidy
  • Exhibiting compassion and empathy
  • Demonstrating tact and sensitivity
  • Ability to work alone and as part of a team
  • Being polite and approachable

Training Requirements:

  • Teesside Hospice mandatory training
  • Volunteer induction training
  • Any other training identified as appropriate to the role

Support and Supervision:

Your first line of support for any enquiries will be the store manager, who will assist you in your role.

Communications:

The store manager will regularly provide you with information updates, training opportunities, and upcoming events appropriate to your role. You will be provided with a Teesside Hospice volunteer badge.
