At Peer Talk, we help people living with depression and anxiety.

Last Easter, we launched a new group in Thornaby and now we need some new volunteers to join us.

Full training is provided.

You will be required to facilitate with a colleague at our Thornaby meetings. This involves attending 15 minutes before the meeting to prepare the room, facilitating for 90 minutes, closing the meeting, and writing a brief report on it.

We take on volunteers from all walks of life. The key quality is that you are a good listener with empathy skills. Many of our volunteers have experienced feelings of low mood and use that experience to help and support our peers.

Key Qualities:

  • Good Active Listener
  • Empathy
  • Non-judgmental
  • Communication skills
  • Sociable
  • Be present
  • Well-organised
  • Motivated to help

We accept volunteers from 18 upwards.
