About the role
We are excited to be recruiting a Welfare Rights Officer to join our Welfare Support Team within the Revenues, Benefits and Welfare Service. Our service plays a vital role in supporting the boroughs most financially vulnerable residents, administering a wide range of welfare support schemes. Youll be part of a supportive, forward-thinking team thats committed to delivering impactful welfare support.
As part of your role as a Welfare Rights Officer, you will manage your own caseload and also support the team with:
- Income maximisation for residents of the Borough
- Representation at social security appeals
- Provide specialist welfare benefits advice and training to fellow professionals and advisors
We are looking for someone with:
- Knowledge of the welfare reform agenda
- Experience in providing welfare benefits advice
- Ability to make sound judgments in complex and challenging circumstances
- Excellent ICT skills and a commitment to high standards of work
- A positive, enthusiastic attitude
- A desire to work in a high-performing team with a proven track record

- A career graded salary from £26,403 up to £37,280 (the salary grade on appointment will be determined by qualifications and experience)
