Look no further! We are delighted to be recruiting for a Planning Officer to join our innovative and forward-thinking team here at Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a central role in shaping the long-term development of our Borough, with a particular focus on Planning Policy and the review of our Local Plan. As a Planning Officer, you will be instrumental in delivering our vision for economic growth and development.

In this role, you will:

  • Prepare planning policy documents and associated evidence base.
  • Play a key role in the review of our Local Plan.
  • Support strategic planning initiatives that facilitate economic growth and environmental stewardship.
  • Collaborate across departments and with external partners to deliver successful strategic outcomes.

This role would suit a team player who can operate both independently and collaboratively with a range of departments and external partners.

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Planning experience and/or a recognised qualification in planning.
  • Knowledge of Town and Country Planning and other related legislation.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to negotiate and influence.

Our Planning Officers are career-graded, allowing you to progress to higher grades as your experience and qualifications develop, provided there is work available at the higher level.

  • A career-graded salary from £31,067 up to £42,708 (in line with qualifications and experience).
  • 27 days annual leave per year rising to 32 with 5 years service (plus bank holidays). Ability to purchase additional leave is also available.
