Do you want a new challenge and opportunity to make a difference to the lives of Children in Care and Care experienced young people in the Stockton-on-Tees area? Can you give young people a chance to learn how to build their skills to manage a home of their own?

We have a fantastic and rewarding opportunity to join our Supported Accommodation Service as a Link Worker here at Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council. Our Children’s Service is focused on achieving the best possible outcomes for our children and young people. We are seeking to recruit a Link Worker to our Supported Accommodation service for young people aged 16-21 years old, who are unable to live with their families and require support to build their independence skills, resilience and learn how to manage a property of their own.

This is a rewarding role, where you will be expected to be a positive role model for our young people and engage them in the support available. You will need to be compassionate, responsive, enthusiastic and approachable and able to work to relevant legislative requirements and guidance issued by Ofsted.

We have a comprehensive training package to support you along the way. All you need to be a success are:

  • Good communication and problem solving skills
  • Knowledge and understanding of working with children and young people in care or care experience
  • An ability to build strong positive relationships with young people of the borough and partner agencies
  • Able to work to a rota that will include some evening and weekend work
  • A DBS check and relevant previous employment history checks
