The Economic Development Team plays a vital role in supporting businesses, creating opportunities for enterprise, and helping people develop the skills and confidence they need to succeed. At the heart of this work is our Employment & Training Hub, a welcoming space that supports people aged 16+ into employment, training, and further opportunities, while also helping local businesses with recruitment and workforce development.

What you’ll do

As an Employment & Training Hub Support Officer, you’ll be one of the first points of contact for residents, jobseekers, learners and local businesses.

You’ll support the day-to-day running of the Hub, ensuring every visitor receives a positive experience whether they connect with us in person, by phone, email or through events.

  • Support the promotion of training, employment and skills opportunities across the borough.
  • Help plan and deliver recruitment events, workshops, training courses and employability activities.
  • Build positive relationships with residents, employers and partner organisations.
  • Provide administrative support to ensure the Hub operates efficiently.
  • Promote excellent customer service and contribute to a welcoming, inclusive environment for everyone.

This is a fixed term role, expected to last until March 2027.

As this is a fixed-term post, secondment opportunities will be considered for internal employees. Please obtain prior approval from your current line manager before completing the application.

Whether you’re supporting someone taking their first steps into work or assisting a business with recruitment needs, you’ll be professional, friendly and solutions focused.

You’ll bring

  • Experience working in a customer service, business support or similar environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Confidence using IT systems, including Microsoft Office applications and digital communication channels.
  • The ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, partners, residents and employers.
  • A positive attitude and enthusiasm for supporting others to achieve their goals.
