Look no further! We have a fantastic opportunity for an Environmental Health Officer to join our team here at Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council.

You’ll be joining our hard-working and experienced Environmental Protection Team which is part of our wider Environmental Health Service. Our team play a crucial role in ensuring that Stockton-on-Tees remains a safe, clean, and healthy place for everyone.

What will you be doing?

This is an exciting and highly varied role where no two days will be the same.

You will have exposure to the full remit of environmental health duties which include but are not limited to food safety, statutory nuisance, public nuisance, health and safety, water quality, infectious diseases and animal health/welfare.

In this varied and rewarding role, you will:

  • Carry out inspections, visits, monitoring, investigations and enforcement across the borough
  • Provide high quality advice on a wide range of environmental health functions and legislation to both internal and external partners
  • Ensure the Council can fulfil its statutory duties with professionalism and integrity

What do I need?

You will be a current Environmental Health professional – ideally with experience and a professional Environmental Health qualification.

However, we will accept applications from newly qualified Environmental Health Officers or Environmental Protection Officers.

You will also have excellent communication skills, high levels of IT literacy and be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
