Role Description
The Cash and Carry Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Knutsford, responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the cash and carry site.
This includes managing stock levels and product displays, coordinating plant and product ordering, and ensuring accurate pricing and cash handling at point of sale.
The role involves supervising and supporting team members, delivering a high level of customer service to smaller grower-retailers, and handling customer queries and orders.
The manager will monitor sales performance, maintain cleanliness and safety standards in the cash and carry area, and collaborate with nursery and finance teams to support efficient operations and profitability.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of Finance and Cash Flow to support budgeting, forecasting, and monitoring profitability of the cash and carry operation.
- Advanced Analytical Skills to interpret sales data, stock movement, and customer trends, informing ordering and merchandising decisions.
- Experience in retail or wholesale operations, preferably in horticulture but not essential.
- Proficient in point-of-sale systems and basic IT tools (e. g., spreadsheets, inventory management software).
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks in a busy environment.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills for working with customers, suppliers, and internal teams.
- Previous experience in team leadership or supervisory roles is desirable.
- Flexible and hands-on approach, including willingness to work in greenhouse environments as required.
- Relevant vocational training or qualifications in business, finance, retail management, or horticulture are an advantage.
