Stockport Truck Centre is expanding, and we’re looking for a skilled HGV Technician to join our Hyde depot team. As an HGV Technician / HGV Mechanic, you’ll be part of a friendly, close-knit workshop team maintaining and repairing a wide range of HGV trucks and trailers for a loyal customer base across industries. From MOT prep and diagnostics to full servicing, you’ll take pride in delivering high-quality work with the support of a business that values its people and invests in modern facilities, training, and progression.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Carry out routine servicing, maintenance, and repairs on HGV trucks and trailers.
- Prepare vehicles for MOT and complete diagnostic checks.
- Accurately complete all job-related documentation.
- Work collaboratively within a professional, safety-focused environment.
- Coaching and mentoring of junior colleagues, and setting a fantastic example with methods of working.
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience as an HGV Technician including MOT and repairs.
- NVQ / City & Guilds Level 3 qualification in Heavy Vehicle Service and Maintenance or similar (or time-served equivalent).
- Experience mentoring and coaching junior colleagues and/or apprentices.
- Knowledge of modern diagnostic systems and repair methods.
- Full UK driving licence preferred (HGV Class 1 desirable).
- Must have your own tools.
Current Working Hours
- Monday to Friday: 8am – 6pm
- Alternate Saturdays: 7am – 12pm (as business requires)
- Overtime: Paid at 1.5x after 47.5 hours
