Client: Stockport Homes Group (SHG) is an umbrella organisation for four, socially responsible interdependent companies within the housing sector. They are Stockport’s largest landlord, managing over 12,000 properties on behalf of Stockport Council and Private Landlords, as well as a growing portfolio of newbuild homes. As builders, landlords, and developers, SHG believe in collective responsibility for more affordable housing. The Role: You will lead SHG’s procurement function, ensuring business needs are met and procurement projects delivered whilst working collaboratively with key stakeholders. You will have a strategic mindset and contribute to wider organisational projects as a subject matter expert.

Duties will include:

  • Lead the procurement function, providing advice and guidance on public procurement law
  • Maintain Procurement Forward Plan and Contract Register, guiding contract managers in delivery of VfM
  • Ensure delivery of social value through collaborative working
  • Deliver an excellent customer experience especially for contracts involving third parties
  • Deliver procurement strategy and manage procurements end-to-end
  • Understand commercial markets and make sound business recommendations
  • Identify appropriate routes to market, utilising frameworks and DPS where applicable
  • Strong contract/supplier relationship management to ensure robust contracts are in place
  • Produce procurement reports for the Board and Exec Leadership Team
  • Ensure public monies are safeguarded

Person: Public Sector procurement experience is essential. Candidates must have completed the Government Commercial College training. MCIPS, working towards or equivalent level of senior experience. Ability to manage multiple projects across several categories. Ability to deal with multiple senior stakeholders with competing priorities. Strategic thinker that can influence change. Staff management experience desirable.
