Job Overview
This Experienced Social Worker role will require you to undertake comprehensive assessments and, along with the multi‑disciplinary team, plan and deliver a programme of work to meet the needs of the family.
You will work closely with a range of other professionals including the local authority, CAFCASS and community drug and alcohol services. The role also requires you to provide regular reports to court and to attend court regularly to support your allocated families through the FDAC proceedings.
This post is open as a secondment opportunity for Stockport Council Employees, but you must seek the permission of your current manager before applying.
Stockport Council holds a Visa sponsorship licence, but this campaign does not currently qualify.
Responsibilities
- Undertake comprehensive assessments and develop programmes of work with the multi‑disciplinary team.
- Provide regular reports to court and attend court proceedings as required.
- Collaborate with other professionals (local authority, CAFCASS, community drug and alcohol services).
- Participate in regular multi‑disciplinary formulations to plan interventions.
- Work closely with the FDAC clinical psychologist and other team members to develop specialist knowledge.
- Work within the FDAC team which includes therapeutic social workers, clinical psychologists, substance misuse, domestic abuse and parenting workers to provide intensive support.
- Receive regular high‑quality supervision and support, career development opportunities and access to specialist training.
Qualifications
- Experienced and qualified social worker with at least 2 years of post‑qualification social work experience.
- Experience working with families under care proceedings and with complex needs, including drug and alcohol misuse, mental health difficulties, and trauma.
- Current registration with Social Work England, DipSW/Degree in Social Work or equivalent.
- Good problem‑solving skills, team player, non‑judgmental, calm and understanding ability in challenging situations, and interest in therapeutic work.
- Driving licence and access to a car during working hours, and business insurance.
Other Information
The post is eligible for an Essential Car User allowance of up to £963 per annum. Salary: SO3 (£39,862 – £45,091). Working hours: 37 hours, Full Time. Temporary, 12 months – secondments considered from Stockport Council Employees and other Local Authorities. Location: Central House, Stockport, with travel to other Greater Manchester locations.
