The predicted salary is between 30000 - 40000 Β£ per year.

Specialist Teacher of Children and Young people with Vision Impairment (MPS/UPS plus SEN allowance) 26 hours (4 days) with potential to become full-time 32.5 hours from May 2027; Permanent. Hearing and Vision Specialist Service – this role will be a balance of peripatetic working in educational settings and homes in Stockport.

Your Role

From September 2026 or as soon as possible after that, we require an enthusiastic, dedicated and dynamic Teacher of Children and Young people with Vision Impairment (TVI) who has a passion for improving the lives and outcomes for children and young people who have vision impairment.

About You

Ideally, you have completed your mandatory training as a TVI and have experience or are currently on the mandatory training course. We are particularly interested in applications from TVIs with early years, secondary mainstream, and/or post-16 experience, as well as those with experience working with children and young people with additional complex needs – desirable rather than essential. The successful applicant will join a stable and well-established, warm, friendly and successful team with close support and guidance from both colleagues and the Team Leader who is a qualified and experienced TVI.

Eligibility & Requirements

  • Completed or in progress mandatory TVI training.
  • Experience in early years, secondary mainstream, or post-16 settings (desirable).
  • Experience working with children and young people with additional complex needs (desirable).
  • Mandatory pre-employment clearances including enhanced DBS check.
