Lisburne School is a Special Primary School for pupils with severe and complex needs aged 4 to 11 years. The school has received an ‘Outstanding’ Ofsted (June 2023) and is forward thinking, dynamic and supportive. This school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful applicant’s appointment will be subject to satisfactory references, online checks and clearances by the DBS. This post is to join the Teaching team within the school educating pupils with additional learning needs. Above all, you must be child-centred in your approach and have the passion, motivation and ability to work with children who may not relate well to conventional teaching methods and to find connections to engage the harder to reach children. There is a strong emphasis on quality education along with the nurture and care of our children with a significant focus on their emotional and mental health and wellbeing. Staff work tirelessly as a team to create a safe, inclusive and fun environment where children can receive the support they need to help them overcome personal barriers and obstacles and to make progress with their learning.

The class teacher will be required to have an understanding of strategies and skills that can be utilised to ensure the curriculum is accessible to all using the Engagement Model and Pre Key Stage Levels. All teachers work as part of a multi-disciplinary team. The post requires applicants to be able to demonstrate initiative, a desire to become involved in professional development to ensure high quality of provision, a willingness to be flexible and adapt calmly to ever changing situations. Knowledge of de-escalation and different behaviour strategies, whilst not essential, would be desirable.
