As an Experienced Social Worker within our Family Help Team, you will provide a front‑line service, working to align with Stockport Family’s Start Well and Early Help strategies, national supporting families programme and the Healthy Child Programme 0‑19 to ensure families receive the right response at the right time. You will play an integral role in children and family’s journey through services and in particular key transition points (stepping up and down from statutory social work) and act as lead professional and/or keyworker for those families in need of more help.

About You

You will be an experienced social worker with at least two years of post‑qualification social work experience, who can draw on a range of experiences, knowledge and skills to support your team, senior practitioner SW and family help team leader. You will be a good communicator, able to build trusting relationships with team members so that they feel able to approach you for advice and support. You will have good time management skills and the ability to work to deadlines that may require re‑prioritisation; you will be enthusiastic, flexible, have excellent communication skills and be confident in providing quality advice and consultation to other professionals.

You will have a good understanding of early help and statutory interventions available to support and protect children in Stockport underpinned by knowledge of applying Stockport’s threshold of need document. You will have an understanding of special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) and Stockport’s entitlement framework.
