Stockport School is looking to appoint Learning Support Assistants to support teaching, learning and progress, and the development of independent learning skills of students with additional learning needs, particularly including those with EHCPs and those at SEN School Support.

Required for September 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter:

  • 31.33 hours per week (Term time, plus 2 Inset Training days only)
  • Salary: Scale 3, Points 5 to 6 (£25,583 - £25,989) Actual Salary: £18,694 - £18,991

Do you have a strong academic background and a passionate interest in learning and the support of student progress? Are you interested in helping young people develop their core academic skills? Can you play a role in supporting young people’s well-being and progress?

Candidates should be well qualified with strong GCSE passes in at least English and mathematics at minimum grades C or 4 and above, including additional strong GCSE and/or A Level passes (or equivalent) in other subject areas. It would also be desirable for a candidate to be a graduate with a good Honours Degree or other Higher Educational qualification, Qualified Teacher Status, or Teaching Assistant qualified Status.

This is an exciting opportunity for an outstanding individual who has the relevant experience, commitment and drive and who is passionate about encouraging every child to reach their full potential within a supportive academic environment. This opportunity may well appeal to candidates who wish to experience working in a school environment with a view to pursuing a career in education or to candidates who already have QTS but are looking for a change of direction.

Learning Support Assistants who decide to embark on this route will be supported in their applications for PGCE and Schools Direct training courses. We welcome applications from colleagues who are determined to make a difference.
