Role Description

We are seeking a passionate Senior EAL Consultant to lead a team of EAL Consultants working with schools across Stockport. In partnership with schools, leaders, teachers and other professionals, you will develop and promote EAL best practice, support inclusive EAL practice across all key stages, and contribute to the wider equality and diversity agenda. You will supervise the development and delivery of training and CPD and increase capacity among school staff through guidance and advice.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise a team of EAL Consultants to support schools across Stockport.
  • Develop and deliver EAL best practice guidance and training to schools, leaders and other professionals.
  • Work strategically with schools to improve outcomes for EAL learners.
  • Support the team to increase capacity among staff through supervision and advice.
  • Contribute to the wider equality and diversity agenda across the local authority.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Proven track record of working successfully with EAL children.
  • Experience of effective team leadership and coaching, including professional supervision.
  • Recent and significant experience of implementing EAL best practice across schools and classrooms.
  • Understanding of the complexities and sensitivities when working with children and families from varied cultural and linguistic backgrounds, including refugees and asylum seekers.
  • Confidence delivering training and a strong communicator capable of working strategically with schools.
