We have a fantastic opportunity for an inspirational teacher who is passionate about SEN to join our experienced team at this unique provision. This is an exciting opportunity to join our team as we expand and further develop our SEND provision. Moat House PRU supports students 14-19 years of age (with a specialism in young parents) to access relevant and aspirational qualifications, mental health and wellbeing support and education. Our welcoming, nurturing approach enables students of all abilities and genders to feel safe and have a sense of belonging, allowing them to re-engage with learning. Moat House has an Ofsted registered Nursery onsite for the babies of our young parent cohort.

We are looking for a SENCO who is:

  • Committed to making a difference to young people through ensuring the highest standards of provision
  • Creative, motivated and enthusiastic, with the power to inspire students, staff and families
  • A teacher who will work as part of a team to provide a safe and nurturing environment where young people feel safe and secure

The SENCO will work with teachers, the school leadership team, parents and carers and relevant external agencies to develop, implement, monitor and review individual learning plans for students with SEND. The role will entail a small teaching commitment.

The ideal candidate must have the following:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (PGCE /QTS)
  • SEND Qualification at Post Degree level (or be working towards this)
  • Experience and skills (versatility, flexibility and creativity) in working with young people with SEND/additional needs
  • A strong understanding of SEND
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills to enable effective management of own time and meet deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills and the confidence to work with a range of professionals
  • High expectations of all learners

You will be joining an excellent team which has a relentless focus on raising achievement. An understanding of current safeguarding procedures is essential. The post will require a person who is professional, caring and who is able to adhere to our strict safeguarding procedures.
