Learning Support Assistant

Hours of Post: 31.33 hours per week
Working Pattern: 8.30am 4.00pm (except Thursday 8.30am 3.50pm, Friday 8.30am 3.00pm) (20 minute & 40 minute unpaid break each day)

(with opportunity for additional paid overtime to supervise reading & literacy interventions, student enrichment clubs, lunch duties, and student work at lunchtime and after school).

Contract Type: Permanent, Term Time only plus 2 Inset Training days only)

Salary Grade: NJC Scale 3, points 5 to 6 – £24,790 – £25,183 FTE
(salary will be pro rata to part time, term time hours)
(NJC pay rise is also expected to be added to the above rates)

Do you have a strong academic background and a passionate interest in learning and the support of student progress? Are you interested in helping young people develop their core academic skills? Can you play a role in supporting young people’s well-being and progress?

Stockport School is looking to appoint Learning Support Assistants to support teaching, learning and progress, and the development of independent learning skills of students with additional learning needs, particularly including those with EHCPs and those at SEN School Support.

Candidates should be well qualified with strong GCSE passes in at least English and mathematics at minimum grades C or 4 and above, including additional strong GCSE and/or A Level passes (or equivalent) in other subject areas. It would also be desirable for a candidate to be a graduate with a good Honours Degree or other Higher Educational qualification, Qualified Teacher Status, or Teaching Assistant qualified Status.

The school is a very popular over-subscribed school with year-on-year improving results and the quality and consistency of our in-class curriculum support and supportive intervention and enrichment supervision are important to our ongoing progress and success.

This is an exciting opportunity for an outstanding individual who has the relevant experience, commitment and drive and who is passionate about encouraging every child to reach their full potential within a supportive academic environment.

This opportunity may well appeal to candidates who wish to experience working in a school environment with a view to pursuing a career in education or to candidates who already have QTS but are looking for a change of direction. Learning Support Assistants who decide to embark on this route will be supported in their applications for PGCE and Schools Direct training courses.
