COMPASS Advanced Social Work Practitioner
Salary: £45,091 - £51,356 plus reimbursement of Social Work England registration fees. Eligible for an Essential Car User allowance of up to £963 per annum.
Hours / Contract: 37 hours, Full Time. Contract type: Temporary, 2 years.
Location: Fred Perry House with hybrid working arrangements – office attendance at least 2 days per week.
Your Role
We have an exciting opportunity to join our Domestic Abuse team as an Advanced Social Work Practitioner. This role focuses on high‑risk and complex domestic abuse, including female genital mutilation (FGM), honour‑based abuse, and forced marriage.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing professional leadership in high‑risk and complex safeguarding situations.
- Supervision, mentoring and support of staff.
- Delivery of training and practice development activity.
- Modelling excellent social work practice and promoting reflective practice.
- Facilitating multi‑agency collaboration to safeguard children.
- Managing risk, creating evidence‑based decisions and ensuring timely interventions.
- Working closely with colleagues across Stockport Family and partner agencies.
- Additional specialist responsibilities such as practice improvement, specialist consultation to children’s social care teams, MARAC/Daily Risk, workforce development and training, involvement in MATAC, DAPO, target hardening, delivery plans under the Domestic Abuse Strategy, and the Intractable MARAC model.

About You
You are an experienced social worker with knowledge and expertise in domestic abuse, FGM, honour‑based abuse and forced marriage. You are committed to professional development, possess strong communication skills, and can build trusting relationships with team members. You are passionate about relationship‑based social work and thrive in a supportive, collaborative environment. You will be a good communicator, able to build rapport, and maintain a reflective, systemically thinking approach. You will nurture and support staff and be a keen mentor.
