Job Description
As Transport Administrator you will be responsible for ensuring all deliveries are despatched accurately and efficiently, and ensure that all returning drivers are accurately debriefed with any issues communicated and escalated as applicable.
Working hours: 4 on 4 off nights, 18.00-06.00.
Salary: £27,050.40 per annum.
Key Duties of a Transport Administrator:
- To ensure that the despatching/loading module is kept up to date in accordance with the site processes.
- Efficiently and accurately despatch deliveries with any relevant delivery paperwork or other required information.
- To utilise GTS to update despatch or delivery information where required.
- To utilise customer systems/Google sheets to update despatch or delivery information where required.
- To ensure the driver is prompted to complete pre-operative microlise checks on his tablet – if for any reason tablet is faulty driver must return and complete paper copy of pre-op checks.
- Directing drivers to the correct locations on arrival at site as required and provide maps with corresponding Risk Assessment if required.
- To escalate issues to the Assistant Transport Manager where unable to resolve.
- Making sure the correct trailer numbers are input into GTS for trailer tracking.
- Ensure at end of shift all trailer numbers are correct and present in GTS before booking of another driver.
- Liaise with the planning team if a driver has any issue at counter and resolve collaboratively.
- Liaise with warehouse to make sure the paperwork is correctly endorsed.
- Chase the chill/ambient warehouse if paperwork isn’t printed at time of despatch.
- Ensure at end of shifts drivers are prompted to download their card.
- Bring to the attention of the Transport Manager any perceived short comings in health and safety arrangements, situations or processes that you consider to be serious or which may present danger to you or others.
Qualifications
- Equivalent of 5 GCSEs grade 'C' or above
- Excellent communication skills
- High levels of flexibility, commitment and motivation
- Able to use own initiative
- Capable of operating with limited supervision within fixed guidelines
- Team orientated and able to collaborate with others
- Strong typing abilities would be useful
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Outlook are desirable
- Organised and efficient
