Salary: £38,000 per annum
The Role
As a Shunter Driver, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe and efficient movement of trailers across the site. You will be responsible for positioning trailers on loading bays, maintaining operational flow, and supporting the wider transport team to ensure service levels are achieved.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely move and position trailers as instructed across the site.
- Ensure trailers are placed on the correct loading bays in a timely manner.
- Use two-way radios to communicate effectively with operational teams.
- Complete all vehicle and trailer safety checks in line with company procedures.
- Report defects, damage, incidents, and accidents promptly.
- Ensure refrigeration units are operating at the correct temperatures.
- Monitor and maintain adequate fuel levels in refrigeration units.
- Maintain high standards of professionalism and teamwork.
- Report any breaches of site speed limits by drivers or subcontractors.
- Ensure parking areas remain organised and operational.
- Report debris, hazards, or site issues to the relevant department.
- Maintain excellent housekeeping and hygiene standards.
- Work at all times in accordance with Health & Safety legislation and company policies.
Qualifications
Essential Requirements
- Full UK Class 1 (C+E) Licence
- Valid Driver CPC
- Valid Digital Tachograph Card
- Previous shunting experience
- Experience operating Terberg shunt vehicles
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced distribution environment
- Strong awareness of health and safety procedures
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
