The Opportunity
This is a Quality Assurance role for someone who likes variety in their day. One part of the role might involve checking incoming packaging or raw materials. Another part may involve reviewing production records, verifying CCPs, preparing micro samples, checking results, or following up on a taste panel. You may also be involved in internal audits, glass and brittle material checks, supplier non‑conformances, or investigations when something needs to be held, reviewed, or corrected. It is not just about ticking boxes. The real value in the role is helping the site make good decisions before small quality concerns become bigger problems. You will be a visible QA presence across production, packing, and warehouse areas, helping people understand what good looks like and making sure food safety, hygiene, and product standards are protected throughout the process.
Position Description
As Quality Assurance Associate, you will support day‑to‑day quality and technical activity across the site. In this important position, you will support day‑to‑day quality and technical activity across a busy food production site. This is a site‑based role working on a rotating shift pattern, which may include 6:00am to 2:00pm, 2:00pm to 10:00pm, and 10:00pm to 6:00am shifts, along with an 8:00am to 4:00pm lab shift as required.
- Checking incoming packaging and raw materials against required standards
- Monitoring product quality during production, packing, and warehouse activity
- Carrying out verification checks and helping ensure site records are completed correctly
- Reviewing production, packing, and QC paperwork for accuracy and completion
- Verifying CCPs and signing records once checks are complete
- Completing glass and brittle material checks and supporting internal audits
- Assisting with investigations into foreign bodies, held stock, quality issues, or related concerns
- Issuing internal and supplier non‑conformances when needed
- Working with factory colleagues to improve quality awareness and reduce risk
- Helping maintain product legality, safety, hygiene, and quality standards across the site
- Noting when procedures are not being followed or may need to be updated
- Making sure laboratory equipment and chemicals are used properly and checks are completed
- Leading the daily taste panel when required and following up on any actions
- Preparing and sending micro samples
- Reviewing micro results and preparing certificates of analysis
- Supporting wider quality and technical tasks as required
- Following health and safety, HR, and environmental procedures
Experience
This role would suit someone who has worked in food manufacturing, quality assurance, technical support, production quality, or a similar environment. You do not need to be the loudest person in the room, but you do need to be observant, organised, and willing to speak up when something does not look right. Useful experience includes:
- Food safety and QA procedures
- HACCP, CCP checks, and allergen controls
- Factory paperwork, quality records, and production documentation
- Internal audits or routine site checks
- Product quality checks in production, packing, or warehouse settings
- Micro samples, certificates of analysis, or lab‑related QA tasks
- Non‑conformances, investigations, held stock, or supplier quality issues
- Working directly with factory teams to maintain standards
Qualifications
The right person will bring a solid understanding of food safety, HACCP, allergen procedures, and quality expectations in a production environment. You should be someone who:
- Notices details and follows through properly
- Can work to a high standard without needing constant supervision
- Communicates clearly with production and technical colleagues
- Keeps organised when there are several checks, samples, records, and follow‑ups happening at once
- Understands why paperwork matters in food production
- Takes food safety seriously
- Is willing to keep learning and developing their technical knowledge
