The Governors invite applications for the position of Pastoral Co-ordinator at St Mary's Catholic High School. In this key support staff role, your core responsibilities will include overseeing student achievement, attendance, and behaviour.

Our recent Ofsted inspection (January 2026) highlighted the positive culture of the school. Inspectors noted that “staff are proud and positive about being part of the school community” and that leaders are “considerate of their wellbeing.” Pupil behaviour is also a real strength: “Pupils’ behaviour is positive”, they show “respectful attitudes… to staff”, and classrooms are calm and focused. The school is described as “A deeply caring school” where bullying is “extremely rare.”

The Pastoral Co‑ordinator plays a central role in sustaining and developing this culture. Working closely with the Deputy Headteacher and Heads of House, you will lead on pastoral care, behaviour, attendance and student wellbeing, ensuring pupils are supported to thrive both academically and personally.

You will contribute fully to the life of the school, helping to ensure its smooth day‑to‑day running and continuing to build a community where pupils feel safe, known and valued.

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and an enhanced DBS check will be required for the successful applicant.

Please note: Do not be put off applying for this post if you are not a practising Catholic. We welcome applications from colleagues who are supportive of the values of a Catholic School. Many of our staff are members of religious faiths other than Catholic, or none, and make an enormous contribution to the well‑being of our students.

Closing date for applications: Please apply as soon as possible.
