We are looking for an HR professional who shares our belief that people are our greatest asset – someone who can combine strong organisational skills with empathy, discretion and a commitment to excellence. The successful candidate will administer the HR functions at St Mary’s Catholic High School, ensuring that all HR policies and procedures are implemented effectively to support the school's strategic objectives.
St Mary’s is a thriving, 11-16 voluntary aided, mixed, comprehensive Catholic School with 600 students. Our recent Ofsted inspection (January 2026) recognised the positive culture of the school. Inspectors noted that “Staff are proud and positive about being part of the school community” and that leaders are “Considerate of their wellbeing.” Pupil behaviour is a clear strength: “Pupils’ behaviour is positive”, they show “respectful attitudes… to staff”, and classrooms are calm with pupils who “Focus well on their learning.” The school is also described as “A deeply caring school”, where pupils feel safe and supported, and bullying is “extremely rare.”
The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and an enhanced DBS check will be required for the successful applicant. Please note: Do not be put off applying for this post if you are not a practising Catholic. We welcome applications from colleagues who are supportive of the values of a Catholic School. Many of our staff are members of religious faiths other than Catholic, or none, and make an enormous contribution to the well-being of our students.
