The Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join our workshop team at a pivotal moment in our growth. As CNC / Workshop Technician, you’ll play a key role in the hands‑on production of S+S products, notably the latest, industry‑leading flat‑pack range of conversions and products, ensuring components are made accurately, efficiently and to a high standard. You’ll be responsible for operating CNC machinery as well as supporting general workshop activity, from setup through to finishing. This is a practical, varied role suited to someone who enjoys working with their hands, solving problems, and contributing directly to a growing brand.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, operate and maintain CNC machinery to produce components to specification
  • Read and interpret technical drawings and CAD/CAM files
  • Carry out quality checks to ensure accuracy, consistency and finish
  • Support general workshop tasks including assembly, finishing, packing and preparation
  • Maintain a clean, organised and safe workshop environment
  • Identify and report faults, maintenance needs or quality issues
  • Work closely with the wider operations team to meet production deadlines
  • Assist with stock management of materials, tools and consumables
  • Help improve processes and efficiency as production scales
  • As a small, growing business, be willing to help with tasks outside your brief as required

Skills Required

  • Experience operating CNC machinery in a workshop or manufacturing environment
  • Strong attention to detail and pride in producing high‑quality work
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
  • Practical, hands‑on mindset with good problem‑solving skills, use of tyre and wheel fitting equipment along with basic tools
  • Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, evolving environment
  • Understanding of health & safety best practices in a workshop setting
  • Interest in the S+S brand and enthusiasm to be part of our growth
  • CNC programming experience and familiarity with CAD/CAM software is a plus, but not essential
  • Knowledge of composites, fiberglass moulds, and resin infusion is a bonus
  • Sail making / sewing / marine‑grade‑component knowledge is a bonus
  • Automotive skill set is a bonus
  • 3D printing experience is a bonus along with the ability to use Fusion 360
