About Us

Stirrups Hotel is a beautiful, family‑run 46‑bedroom hotel set in 10 acres of countryside between Bracknell and Windsor. With an award‑winning restaurant, stylish bar, and a busy calendar of weddings and events, we pride ourselves on delivering warm hospitality and quality cuisine in a relaxed, welcoming environment. We are currently seeking a passionate and experienced Sous Chef to join our growing kitchen team and support the Head Chef in delivering exceptional food for our restaurant, functions, and weddings. As we are a family-run and owned business, we understand the importance of a work‑life balance so all our contracts are for 40 hrs/week and if there is any overtime, this is paid in full at your hourly rate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Head Chef in the daily running of the kitchen, ensuring consistently high standards of food quality and presentation.
  • Able to look ahead at business and order effectively and understand the financials.
  • Lead by example in preparing dishes using fresh, locally sourced ingredients.
  • Supervise and mentor junior chefs, ensuring training and development within the team.
  • Ensure all food safety, hygiene, and health & safety standards are upheld (HACCP compliant).
  • Assist with stock control, ordering, and maintaining cost‑effective practices.
  • Contribute to menu development with creative input and seasonal ideas.
  • Take charge of the kitchen in the Head Chef’s absence.

About You

  • Previous experience as a Sous Chef or Junior Sous Chef in a high‑quality kitchen environment.
  • Strong culinary skills and passion for using fresh, seasonal produce.
  • A team player with great leadership and communication abilities.
  • A calm and organised approach in a busy kitchen setting.
  • Flexible with working hours – evenings, weekends, and event dates required.
  • Knowledge of allergen control and catering for dietary requirements.
  • Level 2 or 3 Food Safety certification (preferred).
