Are you the type of Engineering Manager who loves overseeing a high volume and fast‑paced manufacturing facility and enjoys full accountability for all engineering‑related activity on site? I am currently working with a global manufacturing company that is modernising and growing. They are following a comprehensive and continuous programme to update and expand equipment and facilities while maintaining high production levels and need a Head of Engineering who is motivational, driven, and ready to help achieve wider business goals.
Reporting to the COO, we need an experienced person willing to take on the Head of Engineering role, with a hands‑on approach to management and a keen desire to get boots on the ground. Engineer first, Manager second.
What you will be doing:
- Responsibility for managing the maintenance team, including supervisors over a 24‑hour operation with 15 total reporting heads.
- Full budget responsibility for all site engineering activities, supporting the newly appointed CAPEX Project Manager where needed.
- Champion Continuous Improvement in any area for the betterment of the business – people, process or machinery.
- Ensure the CMMS system is fully utilised and all maintenance activities are administered correctly.
- Ensure all external agencies’ instructions are adhered to from audits or suppliers, etc.
- Be a cultural leader of engineering excellence and improvement.
- Identify and lead in the development and training of your team.
- Be strategic in planning and decision‑making.
- Ensure Health & Safety is a priority across the team and that any new processes and policies are implemented correctly.
Skills & Experience:
- Qualifications in an engineering discipline (mechanical or electrical) likely required.
- A proven track record in engineering leadership within a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
- Be an Engineer in every sense of the word – capable of utilising experience to solve problems and mentor others.
- Extensive experience with maintenance of production and other machinery.
