A well-established manufacturing business with a reputation for engineering excellence is looking to recruit an experienced Toolmaker to join its skilled Toolroom team. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a modern, well-equipped facility, manufacturing and maintaining high-quality tooling for a leading UK manufacturer.

The Role

You will be responsible for the manufacture, maintenance, repair, and continuous improvement of production press tooling, jigs, fixtures, gauges, and special-purpose equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manufacture, modify, and repair press tooling, jigs, fixtures, and special-purpose machinery.
  • Interpret engineering drawings and determine the most effective manufacturing methods.
  • Operate a variety of Toolroom machinery including milling machines, lathes, grinders, and CNC equipment.
  • Assemble and strip press tools, checking tolerances and ensuring optimal performance.
  • Diagnose tooling faults and carry out effective repairs.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within the Toolroom.

About You

The successful candidate will have:

  • A completed apprenticeship with an NVQ (or equivalent) in Toolmaking or Machining.
  • Strong experience within a precision engineering or Toolroom environment.
  • Proven ability to operate conventional Toolroom machinery including lathes, milling machines, and grinders.
  • Experience with press tooling, tool maintenance, fault diagnosis, and repair.
  • The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • CNC machining experience.
  • Experience producing jigs and fixtures.
  • TIG welding experience would be advantageous, although training can be provided.
