Stirling Council seeks to appoint a highly motivated and talented professional to lead Braehead Primary School and Nursery.
Braehead Primary School and Nursery is situated in the suburbs of South Stirling within a residential area. The nursery is a separate building, still on school grounds. The school currently has a roll of 286 pupils across 12 classes and a nursery with 54 children. Braehead Primary School and Nursery is a thriving learning community where children have every opportunity to develop the four capacities of Curriculum for Excellence through a broad and varied curriculum and a range of extra-curricular opportunities. Learning experiences are motivating and engaging, and outdoor learning is embraced. The school has a split catchment area where the primary school is associated with three High Schools and is primarily involved in the Bannockburn Learning Community.
This is an exciting opportunity requiring strong leadership, excellent communication skills and a thorough knowledge of current educational developments. The applicant will be committed to delivering excellence and equity by sustaining school improvement, promoting high quality learning and teaching, supporting health and wellbeing and raising achievement and attainment for all learners. Stirling’s culture of self-evaluation in schools and nurseries means that the successful applicant will have the opportunity to work collaboratively with innovative, reflective and skilled professionals.
Applicants must have achieved the Standard for Headship or equivalent, awarded by the General Teaching Council for Scotland or have held a permanent appointment as a headteacher of a public school, a grant-aided school or an independent school on or before 1 August 2020 in order to be appointed permanently to this post. Applicants who can demonstrate commitment to and likelihood of achieving this standard within 30 months may be considered for a temporary appointment (of no more than 30 months) while working toward the standard.
The successful candidate will be required to be a member of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups Scheme (PVG) for children. If your application is progressed after the interview, you will be invited to complete the form and have your details verified. It is Stirling Council’s policy to ask that you pay for this.
