Stirling Council is looking for an Operations Line Manager to fulfil the role of Waste Disposal Co-ordinator. Based primarily at the Lower Polmaise Waste Management Facility, the successful candidate will oversee the safe and compliant waste disposal operations for Stirling Council’s Waste Disposal Service, helping improve and grow our waste disposal and waste treatment operations, underpinning our waste service delivery.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • The successful candidate will be an approachable and supportive line manager for a small operational workforce.
  • An excellent communicator both verbally and in writing, with creative problem solving skills.
  • Highly organised, focused and reliable, with a strong eye for detail and capable of a large variety of tasks, including project managing, HR and administrative functions.
  • On the frontline of overseeing an extensive area of the Council’s waste disposal assets, ensuring all work is carried out in line with Regulatory and Waste Licence requirements.
  • Share responsibility to act as a joint site license holder (with completion of Service funded WAMITAB Level 4 required inside 2 years following commencement in post).

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

  • Understanding and experience of project management.
  • An aptitude for learning new skills and attaining additional qualifications required by the role.
  • Experience of budget management.
  • Knowledge and experience of public procurement processes.

Essential Skills:

  • Full UK driving license.
  • Experience of managing an operational service delivery team (direct line management or supervisory level).
  • Appropriate level of IT skills (Word processing, MS Excel, PC comms literate).
  • Knowledge and understanding of Health and Safety regulations/legislation.
