Stingr is building the social home of golf. Golf is exploding online, but the apps still feel stuck in the past. Most golf apps are built to record rounds, not share them. Stingr is changing that by turning rounds, stats, highlights, shot tracers and gear into something golfers actually want to post. We have built our MVP, grown an early audience, and are now moving towards full production build and launch.
We are looking for a highly capable, hands-on CTO to lead Stingr’s technology and product development as we move from MVP to a fully scalable social platform. This is not a purely managerial role. We need someone who can think strategically, lead technically, and still get stuck into the build. You will work closely with the founders across product, engineering, AI, infrastructure and long-term technical strategy.
The ideal candidate is strong in app development, understands how to build scalable consumer products, and has a genuine interest in AI agents and how they can enhance user experience, automation, content creation and personalisation. Crucially, this person needs to understand golf. Ideally, you play regularly and naturally understand the culture, humour, frustrations and social dynamics of the game.
Responsibilities- Lead the technical development of Stingr from MVP to full production launch.
- Own the technical roadmap, architecture and engineering priorities.
- Work closely with the founders to turn product ideas into scalable, high-quality features.
- Lead development across mobile app, backend systems, AI features, data infrastructure and integrations.
- Make key decisions around architecture, infrastructure, security, scalability and performance.
- Help hire, manage and mentor future developers as the engineering team grows.
- Ensure the app is stable, fast, secure and ready to support real user growth.
- Work with the team on product strategy, user experience and feature prioritisation.
- Bring ideas to the table based on your own understanding of golf, social platforms and consumer app behaviour.
- Take ownership of technical delivery in a fast-moving startup environment.
- Full stack development experience.
- Experience building and shipping consumer-facing products.
- Good understanding of AI agents, LLMs, automation, RAG, AI workflows or applied AI products.
- Ability to move quickly without sacrificing long-term technical quality.
- Strong product instincts and the ability to think beyond code.
- Leadership ability, with the confidence to eventually build and manage a technical team.
- Comfortable working in a fast-moving, early-stage startup where priorities can change quickly.
- Highly self-motivated, proactive and able to work independently.
- Strong communicator who can explain technical decisions clearly to non-technical founders, investors and partners.
- Familiarity with startup culture and the intensity required to build something from the ground up.
- A genuine understanding of golf culture. Ideally, you are an avid golfer.
- Experience building social media, marketplace, creator economy, sports tech or consumer community products.
- Experience with video, image processing, computer vision or shot-tracing style technology.
- Experience with AI-powered recommendation systems or personalised user journeys.
- Experience scaling apps from MVP to thousands or millions of users.
- Experience working with data infrastructure, analytics and monetisation systems.
- Experience in early-stage fundraising, investor conversations or technical due diligence.
- Based in London or able to meet in London occasionally.
We are remote-first at this stage and do not currently have an office. London-based is preferred, but not essential. What matters most is quality, commitment and cultural fit. You will be joining a small, highly motivated founding team. We are looking for someone who wants real ownership, is excited by the mission, and is prepared to work hard to help build a category-defining product.
CompensationThis role will include:
- A competitive salary
- Equity in Stingr
- Performance-based bonuses linked to company progress and value creation
The exact package will depend on experience, seniority, level of commitment and whether the role is structured as a CTO or more of a technical co-founder position.
Why Join StingrThis is a chance to join at the earliest stage of a product with serious ambition. Golf is growing rapidly, creators and celebrities are changing how the game is consumed, and there is still no dedicated social platform built properly for golfers. We believe Stingr can become the social infrastructure for modern golf. If you are technical, ambitious, love building products, and genuinely understand the game, we would love to hear from you.
