We are seeking an experienced IT Infrastructure Design Engineer to join our delivery team on a prestigious, high-profile project. You will be responsible for the design and technical delivery of IT infrastructure solutions, including structured cabling, fibre optic networks, wireless infrastructure, and associated physical infrastructure. This is a key design role where you will work closely with the client, consultants, and installation teams to ensure high-quality, standards-compliant infrastructure is delivered.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the design of structured cabling systems (copper and fibre) including backbone, horizontal distribution, and telecommunications rooms.
  • Design and optimise wireless (WiFi) networks, including predictive modelling and access point placement.
  • Produce detailed technical designs, drawings, specifications, Bills of Materials (BOM), and scope documentation.
  • Define cable pathways, containment systems, and IT infrastructure spaces.
  • Carry out site surveys and produce technical reports and recommendations.
  • Ensure all designs comply with relevant standards (TIA-568, ISO/IEC 11801, BS EN 50173, BS 6701, etc.).
  • Collaborate with architects, MEP consultants, and main contractors throughout the design stages.
  • Support the project team during tender and construction phases, providing technical advice as required.
Essential Criteria:
  • Proven experience working as an IT Infrastructure Design Engineer, ICT Designer, or Structured Cabling Designer.
  • Strong technical knowledge of structured cabling systems, fibre optic design, and wireless infrastructure.
  • Experience producing high-quality design documentation and drawings.
  • Proficient in design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and/or Visio.
  • Excellent understanding of current industry standards and best practices.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple workstreams.
